Information for parents
January 2014
Dear Parents/ Guardians of pupils in 4.4,
Happy New Year! I am your child's English teacher, Ms Linda Lee. I am teaching your child English. Please note the following:
1. English dictation takes place every day. Pupils will be given 3 dictation sentences to learn every day. This is to enable pupils to learn in ‘bite sizes’. I tried this strategy with my previous classes and at least 70% of pupils have shown an improvement in English.
2. Journal writing will be given once every week. Pupils are to write at least 2 pages.
3. About 1-2 sets of worksheets/homework assignments are given each day. If your child’s time management is good, he/she might be able to complete the homework assignments in class. Kindly ensure that your child brings his/ her school diary to school every day. He/ She will be asked to note down the daily homework in it. Your child is expected to hand in all homework punctually. I would appreciate if you could help to supervise your child in completing his/ her daily homework. I will inform you via sms if your child persistently does not do his/her homework.
4. Please ensure that your child pays for the e-learning subscription as many tutorials and assignments will be posted on that portal. The assignments created for your child allow your child to redo them until mastery or a better score is achieved. This is part of the school’s TLLM strategy and encourages independent learning, practice and mastery of knowledge.
5. I shall be keeping all workbooks required in the class.
6. Please ensure that your child has a blue, red and black pen. Pupils will do their work in blue. Corrections will be done in black and peer editing will be in red.
7. I will sms you if your child:
- misbehaves after 5 warnings have been given
- repeatedly does not do his/her homework
- hurts another child intentionally
- does something which is deemed dangerous
8. My handphone number is 93884976. Please feel free to sms me if you need to contact me or if your child is not able to come to school. Kindly state the reasons example: He has a fever……
9. If you need to email me, my email address is leelinda8@gmail.com
10. Please log onto the class blog: 442014@blogspot.com for the following:
- homework given
- dictation/spelling list
- information pertaining to the class
Your child will definitely benefit if we work closely together and I hope that you will support me in ensuring that child is motivated and achieves his/her best in 2014.
Yours sincerely,
Ms Linda Lee.
